About MAONO
MAONO was founded in 2014 by Alex Lu as Shenzhen Maono Technology Co., Ltd., a Shenzhen-based audio company that develops, manufactures, and sells its own microphones, audio interfaces, and mixers rather than relabelling components from other factories. The brand shipped its first self-developed product, the AU100 lavalier microphone, in 2016, and has since grown into one of the more visible independent microphone brands on Amazon, with coverage of its podcasting hardware appearing in outlets including Tom's Guide, TechPowerUp, and Notebookcheck.
MAONO's current range centers on USB and hybrid USB/XLR microphones for podcasting and streaming, alongside audio interfaces, wireless microphone systems, and the companion MaonoLink and ProStudio 2 apps that put onboard EQ, compression, and routing control directly on the hardware. In our own testing, that combination of a hybrid USB/XLR mic body with real onboard processing stood out as a genuinely differentiated approach at its price point, distinct from either bare USB microphones or bare XLR-only designs.

Why we recognized MAONO
The House of Octave Top Brand recognition isn't paid for and can't be applied for. We award it to the brands whose gear consistently stands out in our player-tested category guides. MAONO earned it on the strength of the products below, judged the same way every product on this site is: assessed on build, tone, and playability, weighed against what players actually report over years of use, and ranked on merit.
MAONO gear we rated highly
MAONO PD400X Dynamic Microphone, USB/XLR Podcast PC Mic
Pairs the same USB/XLR hybrid architecture found on far pricier mics with the MaonoLink app's onboard EQ, limiter, and compressor, so tone shaping that normally happens in post happens before the take is recorded. A three-in-one digital knob handles gain, headphone volume, and monitor mix, and tap-to-mute sits right on top of the mic body.

MAONO PD200W Hybrid Wireless Podcast Microphone Bundle for 2
A purpose-built two-host wireless bundle rather than two separate mics improvised into a rig: two wireless desk microphones feed one receiver, with each voice landing on its own track for clean, independent editing. The capsules are real desk dynamics rather than clip-on lavaliers, so a seated two-person conversation keeps proper desk-mic tone.

MAONO P2 Hybrid USB Audio Interface
Built-in loopback captures desktop and call audio alongside two XLR microphone inputs at 56dB of gain each, solving the specific problem of landing a remote guest, two mics, and computer audio into one clean recording. It connects to a phone and a computer simultaneously, and per-channel mute sits on the front panel as a physical button.

- MAONO develops and manufactures its own audio hardware in-house rather than relabelling third-party designs, a distinction the brand's own storefront and product documentation make explicit
- Independent tech and audio outlets including Tom's Guide, TechPowerUp, and Notebookcheck have reviewed MAONO's podcast microphone lineup, giving the brand third-party coverage beyond Amazon customer reviews alone
- The PD400X and P2 Hybrid both build real onboard signal processing, EQ, compression, and desktop-audio loopback, into hardware at a price point where competitors typically leave those features out entirely
- The PD200W is a rare purpose-built two-host wireless bundle in our testing, shipping as a complete matched pair rather than requiring buyers to assemble two microphones and an interface separately
- Across the three MAONO products we tested, each won a distinct role, a hybrid mic, a wireless two-host bundle, and an interface with loopback, showing range rather than one good product surrounded by filler
