About Line 6
Line 6 was founded in 1996 in Calabasas, California, and shipped the AxSys 212, the first digital modeling guitar amp, in its debut year, followed by the POD multi-effect processor in 1998 that put amp modeling on desks and pedalboards worldwide. The company has been a subsidiary of Yamaha Corporation since 2014 and now operates within Yamaha Guitar Group, giving its modeling hardware and software the backing of one of the largest instrument makers in the world.
In 2015, Line 6 introduced its HX modeling engine with the original Helix processor, a platform that now spans the flagship Helix floorboards down to the compact HX Stomp and the complete HX-powered POD Go floorboard. In our own testing, the HX-based units stood out for running the same modeling engine across the whole range, so a compact pedalboard unit and a full-size floor processor produce the same amp and cabinet tones rather than a scaled-down approximation.
