About PDP (Pacific Drums & Percussion)
Pacific Drums and Percussion (PDP) was founded by Drum Workshop, Inc. (DW) in 1999 and is designed in California. According to its own site, the brand was created to provide drums, pedals and hardware to drummers, and the line has grown to include the Concept Series drums along with modular Concept Series hardware and accessories.
The Center Stage kit in our beginner drum set review is built from multi-ply 100% poplar shells with 45-degree bearing edges. The snare and tom shells are fitted with DW's True-Pitch tension rods, the bass drum has telescoping spurs, and the stands are double-braced. PDP lists the 5-piece Center Stage in 20-inch and 22-inch bass drum configurations and in six sparkle finishes.

Why we recognized PDP (Pacific Drums & Percussion)
The House of Octave Top Brand recognition isn't paid for and can't be applied for. We award it to the brands whose gear consistently stands out in our player-tested category guides. PDP (Pacific Drums & Percussion) earned it on the strength of the products below, judged the same way every product on this site is: assessed on build, tone, and playability, weighed against what players actually report over years of use, and ranked on merit.

PDP Center Stage 5-Piece Complete Drum Set, 22-Inch Kick
One of our top picks for beginner drum sets, placed with adult beginners who want to learn to tune. It is a complete five-piece kit with a 16x22 kick, a 5x14 snare, 7x10 and 8x12 rack toms and a 14x16 floor tom. The listing states brass cymbals, with 13-inch hi-hats and a 15-inch crash/ride. The True-Pitch tension rods use a finer thread, so each turn of the key moves the pitch less, which makes small tuning changes easier for someone learning to tune. A kick pedal, hi-hat stand, cymbal stand, snare stand and throne are included, and the kit can be set up left- or right-handed.
